Step Back In Time...
Come To Weatherford Texas
Historic Weatherford has become one of the premier places in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex to live and raise a family. Whether you come for a few days or a lifetime, you'll quickly discover why! Entering Weatherford's limits is like stepping back in time to an era when the pace of life was slower. Despite the comfortable atmosphere, however, it's still only a short commute to all of the attractions and amenities of the big city. No wonder that Weatherford has become a draw for history buffs, Western lifestyle enthusiasts and those with a pioneer spirit.

Weatherford is served by I-20 and US Highway 180.
On the crest of a divide between the Trinity and Brazos valleys, Weatherford was the principal frontier settlement in north Texas for its first decade of existence. The town was incorporated in 1858 and quickly made the new county seat. Over the next 25 years, Weatherford acted as a safe haven for Parker County residents who fled to the city during a series of Indian raids which lasted until the early 1870s. Once the threat of Indian attacks abated, the city began to prosper. The tracks of the Texas and Pacific Railway reached Weatherford in 1880. Seven years later, the Santa Fe line entered the city limits. This growing network established the town as a major retail and shipping hub for Parker County farmers and ranchers.

Weatherford has a rich heritage. Legendary cattle drivers such as Oliver Loving and Charles Goodnight are fixtures in our history and served as models for Larry McMurtry's famous novel "Lonesome Dove." Thanks to this legacy, our residents can enjoy Western-themed events throughout the year. The Goodnight Loving Festival brings a variety of Western arts, crafts and activities to town. There are also the Parker County Frontier Days, and the Sheriff's Posse Rodeo is one of the largest rodeos in the Lone Star State.
Since we are "the Peach Capital of Texas," it should come as no surprise that Weatherford growers produce some of the best peaches in the region! The Parker County Peach Festival is Weatherford's biggest annual event. You can enjoy all sorts of peach-related foods as well as shop at local artisan booths, listen to live music and much more.
We've barely scratched the surface of what Weatherford offers its citizens. Why not contact us today to learn more? We'll help you discover the home or business you've been dreaming about.
